Precision Israeli Airstrike Kills Hezbollah Member in Lebanon

(MENAFN) A Hezbollah operative died Sunday when Israeli forces targeted southern Lebanon with precision airstrikes, marking another violation of the fragile ceasefire agreement.

Ali Tawba from Maifadoun village was killed after an Israeli drone struck his motorcycle with a guided missile along the Nabatieh Al-Fawqa road, according to a Lebanese news agency and a Lebanese army intelligence source who spoke to media.

Israeli drones and warplanes conducted multiple bombardments across southern Lebanon, penetrating deep into the region to target Hezbollah military installations that had faced previous air raids, witnesses and intelligence sources confirmed.

The escalating strikes forced closure of the international highway connecting Lebanon's southern border areas with the Nabatieh region, with Lebanese army units working to restore access.

The attacks directly contravene a U.S.- and French-brokered ceasefire implemented November 27, 2024, which ended over a year of cross-border hostilities. The agreement mandated Israeli withdrawal from southern Lebanon, yet Israeli forces maintain multiple border positions while launching continued strikes under claims of Hezbollah "threats."

Intelligence reports suggest Israel has begun constructing new military installations along the southern Lebanon frontier, further complicating the ceasefire framework.

The renewed violence threatens to unravel the diplomatic achievement that temporarily halted the devastating border conflict between Israel and Hezbollah.
